Advantages Of TV Wall-Mounted Installation

The biggest advantage of wall mounting your TV is the space it saves. This can come in handy in a smaller house or apartment, because it eliminates the need for a table or any surface space to place the TV on. Wall-mounting a TV can also be aesthetically pleasing since it allows for a more minimalistic look and a bit more flexibility for where you can have your TV installed.

So, what are the essential components for mounting a television?

To begin with, you should pick the ideal location so that your TV is safely attached to the wall, does not obstruct anything, and is comfortable to watch from your favorite area in the room.

Second, you want to make sure there's a power outlet near or, ideally, at the spot where you are planning to have the TV installed. This way, when the TV is up on the wall and if you plan on using only TV built-in streaming functionality, your new TV setup gets the cleanest look possible. If a power outlet is not there and you need a power extension, the power cord may be concealed inside the surface mounted wire molding. Usually, this type of a molding is made of plastic and can be painted the same color as the wall it is on to blend it in as much as possible.

Third, you need to think about what you are planning to connect to the TV. Is it just a cable box or you would like your Blu-ray player, PlayStation, and Apple TV to be connected too?

There are a couple of ways you can connect all your video sources to the TV: Option 1 would be plugging everything directly into the TV and switching between TV inputs; Option 2 is to use an AV receiver or a stand-alone HDMI switcher unit. The second solution is a bit more complicated and is normally used when you have more than 2-3 devices to connect and plan on adding a surround sound and/or universal remote control to the setup.

As you can already tell, wall-mounting a TV can become more involved than it seems at first glance. You might even need a specialist that can tell you about possible ways to set up your TV, help you to pick the right system components and have them properly installed and connected for you.
